I simply cannot imagine spending $3,000+ on a dog that isn't a) purebred for the purpose of competing in shows and breeding, or b) a working breed that you need for some reason, like how labs are supposed to be a good breed for service dogs. There's plenty of perfectly good mutts at the shelter!
